Choosing a special date for your wedding is one of the first decisions you need to make when planning your special day.

Whatever date you choose for your wedding will be special to you but there are some dates that are extra special for other reasons. Maybe the date is the same as your parents’ wedding day or maybe it is the anniversary of your first meeting.  Maybe it is a date that makes your future anniversaries easy to remember because the same day happens every year –  the dates with the same number eg 1/1, 2/2, 3/3 etc right through to 12/12;  New Years Eve 31 December; Valentines Day 14 February; International Day of Happiness 20 March and for Star Wars fans 4 May – May the fourth be with you!

But some couples want to have a date that is truly special because it doesn’t happen often and the next few years offer great opportunities to choose a really special date for your wedding. Did you know there is one day in 2021 that is extra special and unique because it will not happen again for 1000 years. Can you guess what that is?

If you said March 4 2021 you are right. That is because that date is 4/3/21 and that won’t occur again until March 4 3021. How cool would it be to get married on such a unique date? No excuses for ever forgetting wedding anniversaries. It does fall on a Thursday but there are real benefits to getting married on a weekday especially if you are planning an elopement or a micro ceremony. Of course if you want to adopt the American date system which reverses the day and month then 3 April is a Saturday and is still shown as 4/3/21.

Here are some other options for your special date – there are lots to choose from particularly those with special numbers in the date as shown below.

There is one date left in 2020 that fits into this category – Saturday 12 December – 12/12/2020.

In 2021 none of the same digit dates occur on a Saturday but 2 January is a Saturday 2/1/21

St Valentine’s Day is on Sunday, International Day of Happiness is on Saturday, May 4 is on Tuesday and New Years Eve is on Friday.
Wednesday 20 January 2021 – 20/1/21 or Thursday 21 January 21/1/21
Monday 1 February  2021 – 1/2/21
Friday 12 February 2021 – 12/2/21
Wednesday 1 December  2021– 1/12/21
Thursday 2 December 2021 – 2/12/21
Sunday 12 December 2021 – 12/12/21
Tuesday 21 December 2021 – 21/12/21

In 2022 the only same digit date that falls on Saturday is 1 January 1/1/22

St Valentine’s Day is on Monday, International Day of Happiness is on Sunday, May 4 is on Wednesday and New Years Eve is on Saturday
Wednesday 2 February 2022 – 2/2/22
Sunday 20 February 2022 – 20/2/22
Tuesday 22 February – 22/02/2022 or 22/2/22

The options are limited only by your imagination but if you want to lock in one of these very special dates it is important to act quickly because they will be snapped up just as they were in 2020 before the pandemic hit us. February 2 was a very popular day – 02/02/2020 as was October 10 – 10/10/2020 so don’t delay. Lock your special date in as soon as you can.If your circumstances change you can always move it but if you leave it too late your chosen venue and/or celebrant may not be available.
